Airforce Tape Recorder Harp Aircraft Aviation Original USSR

Original USSR Airforce Aircraft Aviation Tape Recorder "Harp". The Arfa on-board four-track tape recorder is an apparatus that converts a tape recording from a moving tape carrier into electrical audio signals. Huge duralumin cassette, four tracks with auto reverse, tape as in reels, 6 mm. The key switch enables the standby mode (O), the inclusion of playback along one of the four tracks, the inclusion of fast-forward to the left or right and the indication of operating modes by turning on the backlight of the corresponding key.

From the key switch, control signals arrive at the automatic control unit, which provides voltage, turns on or off the circuits necessary for operation in the selected mode. The drive of the sound carrier is made on a reversible DC motor. The engine speed is stabilized by an electronic speed regulator. The motor drives the sound carrier (magnetic tape) by means of a friction clutch of the drive shaft with the tape and a rubberized pressure roller.

When the sound carrier moves past the working gaps of the magnetic heads in the windings of the latter, an EMF is induced, proportional to the signals of the music spectrum recorded on the tape in the form of a field of remanent magnetization. The signals induced in the windings of the head are fed to a playback amplifier.

The amplified signal is fed to telephone jacks located on the front panel of the tape recorder, and to the input of the ULF-25B. In block 27A-30 there is a coil with magnetic tape, limit switches and a flow indicator of the sound carrier. The tape drive mechanism (LPM) ensures the transfer of the sound carrier from one coil to another and brings it to the place of contact with magnetic heads. Each track is played using its magnetic head. When the sound carrier approaches the end, the arrow of the sound flow indicator closes the contacts of the limit switches, providing a signal for switching circuits to go to the next track.
